°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø Research Fellow wins Spanish Mathematical award
The Royal Spanish Mathematical Society and the BBVA Foundation have announced the names of the six winners of the 2024 Vicent Caselles Mathematical Research Awards. The aim of these awards is to support and encourage young professionals who work in the field of mathematical research.
The six young scientists’ research has not only made significant contributions to the advancement of basic knowledge, but can also promote multiple applications in fields such as artificial intelligence, cryptography, robotics, autonomous vehicles, logistics, ecology and biomedicine.
One of the six recipients is °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø Research Fellow Macarena Arenas. Macarena completed her degree in Mathematics from the National Autonomous University in Mexico, followed by a PhD at Cambridge University. Her research work is in the area of ​​geometric group theory, a field of Mathematics that is dedicated to classifying and analysing algebraic structures called groups from the point of view of geometry.
